2. On-Device Execution & Core Philosophy

GeM Assistant is architected under an **on-device execution model**. All data extraction, webpage parsing, invoice downloads, spreadsheet assemblies, and scanning operations run strictly within your local Chrome browser context.

To protect your account security, we maintain the following strict data protection standards:

Passwords are NEVER collected: Your GeM account password is never seen, requested, captured, or transmitted. The extension runs entirely within your active browser tab using session cookies already authorized on your machine.
No cookies or session headers are transmitted: The extension does not collect or send your session identifiers or cookies to external servers.
No transaction details are uploaded: The extension does not store, collect, or upload your order sheets, purchase history lists, specific product prices, or seller names to our servers.

3. Licensing, Buyer ID & Subscription Syncing

To support premium licensing validation and automated registration, the extension interacts with our secure database server at https://dvwebapps.com using your Buyer ID.

Buyer ID (Portal Login Username) Usage: The Buyer ID is the unique username you use to log in to the GeM portal, and is also required by the extension to run license operations. This Buyer ID is read by the extension and securely sent to our server database at `dvwebapps.com` to register your license, verify whether you are inside the active trial period, or check if you have a valid paid annual subscription.
Payment Verification: Premium billing transactions are handled securely using the Razorpay payment gateway directly on our landing page. We never receive or store credit card credentials, banking details, or UPI secrets.

4. Extension Permissions & Rationale

To automate administrative tasks, the extension requests specific Chrome API permissions. Below is the justification for each declaration in our manifest:

Used strictly to cache your Buyer ID, subscription license types, and local trial start timestamps on your machine to deliver a fast user experience with zero interface layout shifts.

"downloads"

Used to save downloaded invoice PDFs, CRAC document copies, and generated order Excel/CSV reports directly to your local computer's Downloads directory.

"host_permissions" (*://*.gem.gov.in/*, *://dvwebapps.com/*)

Allows the extension to read order listings and shipments pages on GeM portal context to automate manual downloads, and check license status with our secure backend.

5. Data Security

Because all processing is localized, the security of your data depends on the security of your local computer and your active browser profile. We recommend keeping your Chrome browser up-to-date and using standard security practices to safeguard your profile directory.
